How to Get Test Tokens?
To add test tokens to your wallet on both the Polygon Amoy testnet and the Ethereum Sepolia testnet, follow these steps. These test tokens are intended solely for development and testing purposes and have no real-world monetary value.
What Are Test Networks?
Test networks, or testnets, are versions of public blockchains where developers can test smart contracts, decentralized applications (dApps), or other blockchain-related software without using real tokens. These testnets mirror the functionality of the mainnet but utilize test tokens, which have no real value and are only available via faucets.
For the Polygon Amoy Testnet
- Visit the Polygon Faucet: Go to the Polygon Faucet.
- Select the Amoy Network: Ensure that you have selected the Amoy testnet from the available options.
- Enter Your Wallet Address: Input your wallet address configured for the Amoy testnet.
- Request Test MATIC: Click on the button to request test MATIC tokens. The faucet will send a small amount of test MATIC to your wallet.
- Confirm Receipt: Check your wallet to ensure that the test MATIC tokens have been received.
Note: Currently, there is only one faucet available for the Amoy testnet. Keep an eye out for additional options or alternatives as the network grows.
For the Ethereum Sepolia Testnet
There are multiple faucets available for obtaining Sepolia test tokens. Depending on your situation, different faucets may have specific requirements. Below is a detailed list of Sepolia faucets and their respective requirements.
List of Sepolia Faucets and Requirements
Blockchain | Network | Faucet | Requirements |
---|---|---|---|
Ethereum | Sepolia | Chainlink Faucet | GitHub account |
Ethereum | Sepolia | Google Cloud Faucet | Mainnet tokens (minimum 0.001 ETH) |
Ethereum | Sepolia | Alchemy Faucet | Mainnet tokens |
Ethereum | Sepolia | PK910 Faucet | Mainnet tokens & mining (mining instructions available on the faucet page) |
Ethereum | Sepolia | Infura Faucet | Mainnet tokens |
Ethereum | Sepolia | QuickNode Faucet | Mainnet tokens |
Ethereum | Sepolia | GetBlock Faucet | Mainnet tokens |
Ethereum | Sepolia | LearnWeb3 Faucet | Mainnet tokens |
Ethereum | Sepolia | Chainstack Faucet | Mainnet tokens & less than 0.5 SepoliaETH |
Ethereum | Sepolia | RockX Faucet | Create an account |
Ethereum | Sepolia | Testnet Bridge | ETH <-> Sepolia bridge (requires ETH on mainnet) |
Steps for Using Sepolia Faucets
- Visit a Sepolia Faucet: Choose a faucet from the list above based on the requirements that match your wallet’s current state.
- Enter Your Wallet Address: Input your Ethereum wallet address configured for the Sepolia testnet.
- Complete Verification: Some faucets may require you to complete verification steps, such as logging in with a GitHub account or solving a CAPTCHA.
- Request Test ETH: Click on the button to request test ETH. The faucet will send a small amount of test ETH to your wallet.
- Confirm Receipt: Check your wallet to ensure that the test ETH tokens have been received.
Choosing the Right Faucet
- No Mainnet Tokens: If your wallet does not have mainnet ETH, choose the Chainlink Faucet or RockX Faucet, as these do not require any mainnet balance.
- Mainnet Tokens: If you have at least 0.001 ETH on the Ethereum mainnet, you can use the Google Cloud Faucet or Alchemy Faucet.
- Mining Requirements: If you want to try mining, you can use the PK910 Faucet and follow the mining instructions provided on their site.
Note: These faucets and networks are for development and testing purposes only. The tokens received from these sources have no real-world value.
